About the MUA
The Maritime Union of Australia, a division of the Construction Forestry Maritime Mining and Energy Union, fighting for workers rights since 1872
The MUA came about as an amalgamation of the Seamen's Union of Australia and the Waterside Workers' Federation in 1993.
But its roots go back to the 19th century and the formation of the first maritime union in the world - the Seamen's Union of Australia in 1872.

About the Construction Forestry Maritime Mining and Energy Union
The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union is Australia's main trade union in building and construction, forestry and furnishing products and mining and energy production.
With offices in all capital cities in Australia and in many major regional centres, the union has over 100,000 members across Australia.
There are four Divisions of the CFMEU:
- Construction and General Division
- Manufacturing Division
- Mining and Energy Division
- MUA Division
