The Maritime Union of Australia and Asciano have agreed to re-enter Fair Work Australia on Monday in a bid to find agreement in their long running enterprise negotiations.
The hearing will seek to resolve the 11 sticking points in negotiations between the union and the nation's largest rail-haul and ports operator.
Asciano had threatened a lockout at its Patrick operations, covering its terminals at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle, after several attempts at conciliation through FWA failed to produce a breakthrough.
But both parties agreed yesterday to re-enter a formal and structured resolution process to be conducted by FWA deputy president Peter Sams.
The MUA and the company have agreed that all outstanding issues will be agreed to or ruled on within a 72-hour timeframe.
The final enterprise agreement reached will remain subject to a vote of MUA members, as it would under normal circumstances.
