Public rally around Sydney Ferries

Published: 18 Sep 2009

An estimated 60 supporters of Sydney Ferries rallied at Cabarita Wharf in Sydney today to keep the ferries from being privatised, warning there would be a decline in ferry services if the sale goes ahead

The Maritime Union's Paul McAleer says the protest aims to send a message of public support for the ferries to Member for Willoughby Angela D'Amore. Paul Garrett, MUA assistant branch secretary says bidders have had problems with running public transport in the past. More protests are considered over the next two weeks, as the NSW Government considers bids from two private companies.
