A prominent Fijian trade unionist, Felix Anthony, has been arrested by the country's police.
In a brief conversation with Radio Australia's Pacific Beat program, the Fiji Trade Union Congress secretary-general confirmed he had been taken into custody.
He could not provide further details.
He is the second high-profile unionist to be detained in Fiji in recent days.
'No shock'
Congress president Daniel Urai was arrested on his return from Australia at the weekend.
Attar Singh, secretary-general of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions, told Radio Australia that Mr Anthony's arrest does not come as a shock.
Mr Singh said: "One would say it is not to be surprised given that Daniel Urai, the president of that organisation, was arrested about a week ago now.
"And from what we understand from media reports locally he is still in detention. We still don't know what the reasons for the arrest were."
Mr Anthony was also general secretary of the Fiji Sugar and General Workers Union.
In the parliamentary election of 2006, he won a seat for the Fiji Labour Party.
After the 2006 military coup by Frank Bainimarama, Mr Anthony was appointed to the Board of Fiji National Provident Fund.
