The MUA knows the horrors of war. One in eight seafarers were killed in WWII and 33 wharfies died in the Darwin bombing.
Our union has actively opposed military aggression in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan recognising that peace is union business and war takes its toll primarily on the working class.
That's why we oppose this crazy drive to war from the Morrison Government.
Spending billions on aggressive nuclear powered and nuclear weapons capable submarines is a national disgrace but the Morrison Government continues to work against the interests of all Australians.
The MUA calls for the re-purposing of the Adelaide shipyards for the building of an Australian merchant fleet for all our benefit. The nuclear submarines are for aggression and war.
The jobs argument is false.
Building an Australian trading fleet must be a priority especially in times of shipping shortages where the shipping multi-nationals are putting Australian trade behind their pursuit of huge profits by redirecting ships away from Australia.
Build an Australian fleet NOW!
No to War!
No to Nuclear submarines!
No to AUKUS!
