National Council - Day 2

On the second day of MUA's National Council meeting, National Secretary Paddy Crumlin chaired a high-level exchange with Chris Bowen, Minister of Immigration and Citizenship, and Bill Shorten, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.

After hearing the Ministers presentations, the National Secretary pointed out that the the Government has accomplished a lot on behalf of the MUA and unions in Australia, and also raised a whole range of issues relating to bargaining and NSCOP.

The National Council also discussed international issues with international guests from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Fiji and Timor Leste.

MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin, commenting about the work of the MUA in the international arena, said, "everything we do is about moving trade unions forward."

The day wrapped up with a detailed and informative discussion on the state of manufacturing with Paul Howes, national secretary of the Australian Workers' Union, and Dave Noonan, the National Secretary of the CFMEU Construction and General Division.
