MUA Appeals AMMA 3 Non-Union Agreements to the Full Bench of the Commission

Published: 29 Aug 2016

Three offshore companies – Mermaid Marine, DOF and Smit – have attempted to pursue non-union agreements as part of a protracted campaign being headed by the anti-MUA peak body, Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA).

As a result, the MUA lodged formal appeals to the Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission last week in order to protect key job security provisions for seafarers working in the offshore oil and gas industry.

It is the latest in a string of attacks being coordinated by AMMA, which has been building a platform for the removal of Australian seafaring jobs and de-unionise the industry on behalf of the big foreign oil companies for years.

No further comment will be made on the matter as the dispute is still before the courts.
