ATSI Committee Representative at National Council

Maritime Union of Australia Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders Committee member, Paddy Neliman thanked the council for having an ATSI committee observer and also sought to reaffirm the committee’s intent to interact and maintain relationships with the women, youth and veteran committees.

“Attending National Council has allowed me to get actively involved with union issues and interact with women, youth and veteran committees,” said Paddy.

“During National Conference I moved a resolution that said ATSI committee should create awareness and build relationships with other committee’s,

“National Council has given me a platform to actively participate in union business and work with my fellow comrades at the MUA.”

“I can now go back to the ATSI committee and give feedback from National Council.”

The 2012 Quadrennial Conference of members, advised by the ATSI committee, resolves that the MUA ATSI committee needs to interact with women, youth and veteran MUA committee and members to create awareness and maintain, nurture and preserve alliances.
