Friends and comrades from across the industrial, political and indigenous movement gathered in Sydney yesterday 27 September to celebrate the 70th birthday of Kevin Cook (Cooky).

Cooky is a great friend of the trade union movement and the MUA in particular where a number of officials have over the years worked closely with Cooky, first in has capacity as a part of the leadership of the NSW Builders Labourers Federation (BLF) and later as the General Manager of Tranby Aboriginal Cooperative College in Glebe, Sydney.  Pat Geraghty was part of the celebrations and spoke of the great comradeship and friendship between the Cooky, Tranby College and the Union.

National Secretary Paddy Crumlin, who was unable to attend, said the union enjoyed a long term friendship with Cooky and worked together with him when he was the Tranby general manager and on many indigenous, political and industrial campaigns over 25 years.
