Women@Work: Recruitment

P&O Push for women 'wharfies'.

Casual Waterfront operators wanted. Women encouraged.

P&O Ports is often seeking casual employees to supplement their workforce in the loading and discharging of cargo at many of their facilities around Australia.

Looking for a sea change?

Duties include the operation of mechanical equipment and general wharf, ship and clerical duties. The positions offer flexibile work hours (dependent upon shipping) and applicants must be available to work irregular shift work including weekends and public holidays.

P&O are particularly seeking women who are looking for a challenging career in the maritime industry, preferably with a shift work background or experience in operating machinery. Extensive training in waterfront operational skills will be provided for suitable candidates.

Applicants must hold a current drivers licence, have at least 5 years work experience, be physically fit and able to work at heights. Own transport is necessary.

The nature of the position is that you may be required at short notice for any shift Monday- Sunday. There is no guarantee of the amount or regularity of work.

Application forms are available by request from Sue Virago or see home page 02 9267 9134. (See home page)
