UK dockers facing job cuts

63 UK dock workers at DP World's Southampton Container Terminal face redundancy

The company said the job losses were due to the global economic downturn, and according to a senior industry source, other ports will shortly be following suit. But the Unite trade union in Southampton accused DP World of favouring the use of contract labour over its own workforce, and has not ruled out industrial action.
