Spanish wharfies to strike27 April 2003
Action to stop European ports of convenience Commenting on the Spanish dock strike called for April 28, Kees Marges, Secretary of the ITF's Port Workers' Section, said: "This action is about more than Spain. By fighting this imposition from Madrid Spanish dockers have put themselves in the frontline of the struggle against its all too similar sibling, the widely rejected proposed EU port directive. Both are at make or break moments, and the ITF and unions across Europe are joining to ensure that they have no future either in Spain or the rest of the EU."
