MUA Notifies Members On Proposed Rules Changes

Published: 18 Oct 2013

Proposed Rule Changes in accordance with the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2012

Please be advised that, pursuant to a National Council resolution endorsed in accordance with Rules 17(d), 60(c) and 60(f) of the Rules of the Union, the Union has today lodged with the Fair Work Commission proposed amendments to the Rules of the Union required by the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2012.

These amendments are aimed at improving transparency and good governance within the trade union movement.

While the MUA has always prided itself on transparency and accountability regarding remuneration and other financial matters, the amendments are required for the Union to meet the technical requirements of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2012.

Note that some of the amendments also concern financial training requirements of Officials responsible for financial administration, and we will give further advice regarding the scheduling of the training.
