US wharfies and teachers unite against war17 August 2007By MUA news -
In May this year the teachers in Oakland set up a picket outside the port gates blocking shipments to the Iraq war. The wharfies refused to cross the picket. This film documents their struggle The Oakland Port Protest by Teachers & Community Labor Video Project gives voice to the teachers, the local longshore workers, members of the ILWU and the community in their bid to have money put back into educating their children rather than spilling blood in a foreign land. ILWU Local 10&34 members refused to cross the picket line and the terminal was closed for two shifts.
