ACTU Secretary Greg Combet called for the restoration of the right to bargain collectively at the Canberra Press Club today

The ACTU's detailed vision for a new system of workplace relations for Australia is based on the right of employees to bargain collectively and to have a democratic vote in workplaces.

The proposal the marks next stage of the union campaign for workers' rights.

"Unions are about protecting and improving the livelihoods and living standards of working Australians and that is what collective bargaining does," said Greg Combet. "We want to enshrine democracy in our workplaces and restore the balance that has been taken away by the Howard Government's IR laws."
