Finding the Heart of the Nation - Book Launch

Published: 26 Sep 2019

Join us on Tuesday 22nd October at 6pm to launch Thomas Mayor's new book "Finding the Heart of the Nation".

RSVP is essential and you must RSVP on this link

Thomas describes 'Finding the Heart of the Nation' as not just an informative and entertaining compilation of Indigenous stories and not just a book about a place, an event or an historic moment. In fact, he says, it’s not just a book. As Thomas sees it, within its pages is a living, breathing movement of the Australian Indigenous people.

About the Author: Thomas Mayor is a Torres Strait Islander man born on Larrakia country in Darwin. As an Islander growing up on the mainland, he learned to hunt traditional foods with his father and to island dance from the Darwin community of Torres Strait Islanders. In high school, Thomas’s English teacher suggested he should become a writer. He didn’t think then that he would become one of the first ever Torres Strait Islander authors to have a book published for the general trade.

Thomas is a proud MUA member and official of our union.
