Delegates to the Maritime Union National Terminal Conference in Melbourne yesterday highlighted the need for job safety, training and international dock worker solidarity, while confronting the issue of new technology and automating the waterfront.
Meanwhile Assistant National Secretary Warren Smith calls for an industry approach to employment saying enterprise employment has pitted worker against worker and company against company.
