Proud Day

By Maritime Union of Australia

The July Stopwork Meeting was a proud day for me. It was the day

I received my life membership. Most of the best people that I

have known and the best friends that I have made, have all been

or still are MUA members.

I first went to sea in the Australian Navy in 1963. That was where I learned my trade, my seamanship. But if that was my schooling then this union or more particularly the Seaman's Union was my university. It was here I learned my view of the world and my politics - firstly from the leadership which for the most part has been outstanding, then from the pages of the journal which has been educational and finally from the membership. What can I say about the members but thank you comrades and keep on course.
