Grey Power

More than 50 union veterans from around Australia came together at the union rooms in Sydney on September 20 for a one day conference of maritime and mining workers.

While the international mining and maritime conference was winding up in Newcastle, retired miners and maritime workers at the Sydney meeting voted to bring together all the retired members associations into one group -- the National MUA Veteran's Association.

Their motto "retired from the workforce, not the struggle" reflects the commitment of our elders to the labour cause.

The centenary celebrations were all about honouring our past and recognising the wealth of experience life members can contribute to the MUA and the union movement.

Elected to head the Association are National President Harry Black, National Secretary Bill Bodenham and National Treasurer Barry Fuz.
