East Timor Safety Clothing AppealBy Maritime Union of Australia Sydney Branch
MUA Sydney Branch calls on all members to donate unused safety clothing. East Timorese maritime and transport workers have great difficulty in obtaining safety clothing from their employers. It is a disgraceful indictment on the companies who operate in this country (some Australian) that basic safety clothing is not issued to all workers. The MUA has a container in which we are hoping to fill with old issue safety clothing that is in good condition as well as safety boots, safety glasses, and any other safety material such as gloves or helmets that members may no longer have use for. This show of support will be another act of international solidarity that has positive outcomes for our comrades in East Timor. The MUA Sydney Branch needs your support for this to work. We are calling on members to participate in this solidarity action. For more details see your committee delegates or contact Paul McAleer on 0417 468 424 or 9264 5024 or pm@mua.org.au .
